Biography


I received a B.E. degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 1992, and both M.S. degree and Ph.D from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Ishikawa, Japan, in 1994, 1997, respectively. From 2000 through 2001, I was a visiting scholar at IT lab., Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the University of Texas at Arlington.

I joined Department of Computer ScienceGraduate School of Information Science and EngineeringTokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 2013, where he is currently a professor of School of Computing and a Deputy Director of Global Scientific Information and Computing Center. Before joining Tokyo Tech., I worked at the Graduate School of Information Science,Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) as an associate professor in 2003. Since 2003, I was also a researcher of the PRESTO program of Japan Science and Technology Agency through 2008.

My research interests include database systems, information retrieval, information recommendation, and user-computer interface. I am a member of IEEEACMthe Institute Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers of Japan (IEICE)Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ)The Database Society of Japan (DBSJ), and Human Interface Society (HIS).
